Programs
Our Programs
Behind the Wall Collective develops programs that use movement and dance as tools for care, education, and cultural transmission.
Our programs are community-centered, process-based, and designed to respond to specific social and cultural contexts.
1. Community Movement Programs
These programs create safe and accessible spaces for women and children to explore movement, expression, and bodily awareness.
They include:
Movement and dance workshops for women
Creative movement sessions for children
Trauma-aware and culturally grounded practices
Programs are offered in Palestine, France, and online, depending on context and partnerships.
2. Cultural Transmission & Practice
This program focuses on dance as a lived cultural practice rather than a performance form.
It supports:
Intergenerational transmission of movement practices
Exploration of dance in everyday and traditional contexts
Workshops that value process, memory, and embodied knowledge
3. Shared Resources & Living Archive (in development)
Beyond its own activities, Behind the Wall Collective is developing a shared resource space dedicated to dance and movement practices connected to Palestine.
This program aims to:
Gather existing writings, documentation, and research
Highlight studios, workshops, scholarships, and initiatives
Support visibility and access for practitioners and learners
The intention is not to replace existing work, but to connect, curate, and circulate knowledge collectively.
4. Research & Documentation (coming soon)
Behind the Wall Collective aims to develop ethical approaches to documenting dance as a social and cultural practice.
This includes:
Field-based documentation
Collaboration with researchers and academic institutions
Development of a living, community-based archive
Note
Some programs are offered through partnerships or public funding, while others are developed independently
